Rail transport

Growing rail transport and the modernisation of rolling stock require solutions that withstand time, environment, and technological development. When enclosure solutions are designed as part of the overall system from the outset, safe, reliable, and long-lasting operation is ensured.

The importance of rail transport is increasing with the green transition, while train speeds are rising and rolling stock is being modernised to meet increasingly stringent requirements. More electrical and automation systems, energy management, and communication solutions are being integrated into rolling stock and trackside infrastructure, and these systems must be increasingly durable and upgradeable over their long lifecycle.

Enclosures and metal structures are needed to

Protect critical electronics in demanding conditions

Rail transport exposes equipment to shocks, vibration, temperature fluctuations, moisture, dust, snow, and solar radiation. Equipment mounted outside the train must particularly withstand dirt, water, and mechanical stress. Enclosures must protect components in these conditions and ensure a long service life.

Support the growing number of electrical systems

As more electrical systems are installed in trains and infrastructure, the need increases to protect system components from electromagnetic interference caused by other systems.

Enable installation in confined and structurally challenging spaces

Where space is limited, enclosure dimensions and structure must fit precisely into existing structures. Solutions must also remain serviceable in restricted spaces.

Meet strict safety and industry requirements

Standardisation, certifications, and safety regulations are central in rail transport.

Support modernisation and long lifecycle

Rolling stock is continuously modernised to improve safety and performance. Enclosures must enable system upgrades and expansions.

Casemet designs and manufactures enclosures and metal structures suitable for both rolling stock and trackside applications. Solutions are implemented according to the customer’s technical and industry-specific requirements, in close collaboration from the design phase onwards.

Casemet also has experience in delivering fully equipped enclosures as part of rail systems, for example integrated into roof structures. The Casemet Cubo OC outdoor cabinet range was originally designed specifically for rail applications, although it is also widely suitable for many other demanding environments.
