Selecting right enclosure type
When selecting an enclosure, it is important to understand the operating principles of the equipment to be installed as well as the installation location. Based on this information, the required enclosure properties can be correctly defined.
Key factors to consider when selecting an enclosure include:
- Requirements and specific conditions of the operating environment and application
- Material
- Dimensions
- Protection rating and impact resistance
Regarding enclosure dimensions: the minimum and/or maximum dimensions of the equipment determine the required enclosure size. When selecting the size, consider whether additional components may be added later and whether the enclosure will still be sufficient after such additions. Our standard enclosures are available in a wide range of sizes, and we can also create solutions tailored to customer-specific dimensions.
Enclosures and cabinets can be installed on the floor or mounted on a wall. For floor- or ground-mounted cabinets, a plinth or base frame is recommended. For wall-mounted enclosures, mounting brackets and bolts are available.
Casemet’s standard enclosure range includes over 400 variants in different sizes, with various protection and impact resistance ratings. All standard enclosures are pre-certified. Enclosures can also be modified according to customer requirements. Not all modifications are compatible with existing certifications, but they can be certified on a product-specific basis either as a service provided by Casemet or by the customer.
Frequently asked questions
Enclosures for demanding environments are manufactured from stainless steel (AISI 304, AISI 316L) or aluminium. Corrosion resistance depends on the material and surface treatment (powder coating, special coatings).

Our standard enclosures are available in a wide range of sizes, from 100×100×90 mm up to 1800×1800×600 mm. Enclosures can also be manufactured to customer-specific dimensions. When modifications are made within standard enclosure dimensions, their IP/IK ratings remain unchanged.
Our series cover IP54–IP69 depending on the operating environment. For customised products, the rating is defined based on structure and sealing. Structural solutions and material choices can achieve IK08–IK10 ratings, depending on application requirements. NEMA classifications are also available.

Yes. For outdoor use, Casemet recommends stainless steel (AISI 304 or AISI 316L). Using a rain canopy or cover is also recommended. For example, the Cubo OC outdoor cabinet is suitable for outdoor use, while Cubo U and Cubo V series are designed for even more demanding environments. The enclosures withstand wide temperature ranges depending on material and surface treatment.

Enclosures are internally grounded between the cover and base using an EG200 grounding braid. External grounding is also possible via mounting brackets or a grounding screw.

Enclosures can be made in very compact sizes. For example, a customised Cubo F enclosure has been produced in size 100×100×80 mm, and a Cubo V version with an 80×80×80 mm base (with a wider 100×100 cover).
Enclosures can be mounted using external mounting brackets or bolt fixing. Bolts are installed from inside the base using a seal, washer, and nut. Vibration-damping mounting brackets are also available for the Cubo V series.
The continuous operating temperature for E, EO, and F series is −40 °C – +80 °C, while for V, U, and OC series it is −55 °C – +85 °C.
