Materials

Casemet’s standard enclosures are made from steel, which is 100% recyclable. Aluminium enclosures are also available. Where required, we can source low-emission steel.

In contract manufacturing, we use a wide range of materials. For more information on special materials, please contact our sales team.

Metals

Casemet’s standard enclosures are made from steel that is 100% recyclable. Aluminium enclosures are also available, and low-emission steel can be sourced when required.

Our steel enclosures offer high impact resistance and a high protection rating. The enclosures can be easily manufactured to customer-specific dimensions. The material thickness of our standard enclosures ranges from 1.25 to 1.5 mm (the Cubo OC range features material thicknesses of 2.0–3.0 mm).

Stainless steel, AISI 304

Stainless AISI 304 steel is suitable for outdoor use (a rain canopy is recommended), as its corrosion and UV resistance are excellent. The material is suitable for demanding industrial environments, such as the food industry. The surface roughness of our enclosures made from AISI 304 stainless steel is Ra 0.20–0.35 μm.

Stainless steel, AISI 316L

AISI 316L stainless steel is used in conditions requiring extreme corrosion resistance or where AISI 304 properties are not sufficient, such as in offshore applications. The surface roughness of our enclosures made from AISI 316L stainless steel is Ra 0.20–0.35 μm.

Polyester-coated steel

The standard colour of our polyester-coated steel enclosures is grey (RAL 7035). The coating thickness is 80–120 μm and it is TGIC-free (triglycidyl isocyanurate).

Galvanised, polyester-coated steel

The properties of galvanised, polyester-coated steel are largely similar to polyester-coated steel, but with slightly improved corrosion resistance. The standard colour of our galvanised, polyester-coated steel enclosures is grey (RAL 7035). The coating thickness is 80–120 μm and it is TGIC-free (triglycidyl isocyanurate).

Aluminium

Using aluminium as a material for enclosure solutions provides excellent corrosion resistance. Aluminium is well suited when durability and light weight are required from the enclosure.

Gasket

The gasket ensures the IP rating. In our steel enclosures, we use injected, seamless polyurethane or silicone gaskets that guarantee a high level of protection.

Operating temperature ranges of gasket materials:
Polyurethane: -40 to +80 °C
Silicone: -50 to +150 °C

Painting and surface treatment

Casemet offers a wide range of painting and surface treatment options for finishing enclosures. The standard colour for polyester-coated enclosures is RAL 7035, but enclosures can also be produced in other colours and with special effect coatings. In addition, screen printing, such as logos, can be added to complete the product’s appearance. Surface treatment solutions allow the enclosure to be tailored to the application and brand, and they also influence the final product cost.
