A product’s carbon footprint depends on the many components and materials used in its manufacture. The enclosure also plays a role in the overall footprint. By choosing a lower-carbon enclosure solution, you can reduce the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing your product—without compromising on protection, functionality or quality.
Product-specific carbon footprint data also makes the impact measurable and visible. You can use this information to calculate and report the environmental impact of your own product, as well as to identify and select lower-carbon components.
The purpose of an enclosure is to protect electronics, components and systems in demanding operating environments. Casemet Cubo Green combines reliable industrial protection with a lower carbon footprint. The carbon footprint of Cubo Green enclosures is approximately 30–60% lower than that of equivalent standard versions, depending on the enclosure size and the material used in the original version.
Cubo Green enclosures are manufactured from recycled steel, which has a significantly lower carbon footprint than conventionally produced steel. Cubo Green versions are available for all steel Cubo standard enclosures:
- Polyester painted mild steel
- AISI304
- AISI316L
Cubo Green enclosures meet the same compliance requirements as our standard enclosure range. The enclosures retain their IP and IK ratings, so there is no need to compromise on functionality.
Carbon footprint comparison
The carbon footprint calculations have been carried out in accordance with the GHG Protocol. The calculations take into account raw materials, emissions from manufacturing, as well as emissions from transportation and other relevant sources. Below are some examples comparing the carbon footprints of different enclosures. The carbon footprint of Cubo Green enclosures is approximately 30–60% lower.
